Removing the packaging and check • After unpacking, make sure that the washing machine is undamaged. • Keep the packaging materials (plastic bags, polystyrene parts, etc. ) out of reach of children, as they are potentially dangerous. 6. Electrical connections • Electrical connections must be carried out by a qualified technician in compliance with the manufacturer’s instructions and current standard safety regulations. • Voltage information, power consumption and electrical protection data are supplied on the inside of the appliance door. [. . . ] • Stain remover agents • Water softeners (water hardness class 4) • Starch (dissolved in water) 3. The liquid detergent can be used for main wash only on programs without the prewash. A B C Starching Dissolve/dilute the starch, powder or liquid, in approximately 1 litre of water in a container. Load the machine, close the door, select “Rinse and Spin” and start. Once the machine has started filling, pour the dissolved starch into detergent dispenser chamber . Flush the chamber straight away by adding about half a litre of water LIQUID BLEACH (HYPOCHLORITE) There are two possible ways to use liquid bleach (hypochlorite). IMPORTANT: In a machine without a specific bleach dispenser chamber , only the pre-bleach method can be used (see point 2). 1. Traditional way: • Add bleach into the bleach dispenser chamber . • The machine will automatically deliver both products to the laundry at the appropriate time, the detergent is added in the main wash, the bleach is added during the second cold rinse. 22 3gb10045. fm5 Page 23 Tuesday, June 25, 2002 12:38 PM 2. Pre-bleach method: Laundry with heavy stains may be PRE-BLEACHED in the machine prior to carrying out a normal wash programme. If the programme selector is moved to the “Stop” position or if the electricity supply is interrupted, then after approximately one minute the door is released. In case of interrupted electricity do not open the door, because hot water could be released from the appliance. Programme end The programme selector knob is at the stop position. Do not fully close the door but leave it ajar to allow the drum to dry out. Changing programme 1. For this programme do not add any further detergent. Changing options The options can be selected or deselected without switching off the appliance. Programme interruption or pause To interrupt the running programme for a certain period and continue it at a later time: 1. Following the desired pause press the “On/Off” button once again. Cancelling the programme If the current programme is to be terminated prematurely and cancelled, the water must be pumped out first before the door can be opened: 1. Press the “On/Off” button in order to start the “Drain” programme. 24 3gb10045. fm5 Page 25 Tuesday, June 25, 2002 12:38 PM REMOVING THE FILTER 1. Switch off the appliance and drain the water (see next paragraph “Draining residual water”). Slowly turn the filter anticlockwise without unscrewing it completely (using pliers to handle the filter grip makes screwing easier). Pour 1/2 litre of water into the detergent drawer and check that water does not leak from the filter. • Check the filter if the appliance is not draining properly or if it fails to perform spin cycles. • Remove the filter if the pump is blocked by an object (buttons, coins, safety pins, etc. ). IMPORTANT: Make sure the water has had time to cool before draining the appliance. 2 6 4 DRAINING RESIDUAL WATER 1. Unclip the drain hose connection on the rear part of the machine (see arrow A and B). [. . . ] Note: Refit the transit screws and transit bar before transporting the appliance by repeating the above steps in reverse order. In order to locate the screws and bar correctly, it will be necessary to remove the appliance top, having first made sure that the appliance is disconnected from water and electricity supplies. Adjust the feet If the floor is uneven, adjust the levelling feet as required (do not insert pieces of wood etc. under the feet): • Adjust the right foot by turning it by hand to assure that all four feet touch properly the floor. If the appliance is to be installed on a wooden floor, distribute the weight by placing it on a 60 x 60 cm sheet of plywood at least 3 cm in thickness. [. . . ]
